5th Annual Parr-Widener Walk/Run: Saturday, April 21
February 03, 2012 1:23 PM

The fifth annual Parr-Widener Walk/Run will be held in City Park on Saturday, April 21. Registration is at 8:30 AM at the City Park Fountain. This family event, showcasing our talented EHS students, is organized by National Honor Society students to benefit the A+ Angels Mentor Program. A+ Angels works to close the achievement gap at EHS by pairing adult volunteers with students who struggle academically.  Right now more than 70 students are participating in the program. The event honors the memory of John and Chase Parr and Sandy Widener, a beloved EHS family who were killed in a tragic car accident in December 2008. John and Sandy were both mentors in the A+ Angels program. Their daughter, Chase, was a member of the National Honor Society.  The Walk/Run is open to everyone: exercise enthusiasts, babies in strollers, children on roller skates, and dogs.  There is no registration fee but tax-deductible donations are greatly appreciated. All funds raised through the event will support the A+ Angels program and college scholarships for A+ Angels students who graduate from high school and enroll in a 2 or 4 year college.
